Bee

Tattoo artist

You can call me Bee (like the bug)! I recently completed my tattoo apprenticeship and now work as an independent tattoo artist. Art has been a lifelong passion of mine, and tattooing allows me to combine creativity with meaningful connections through every piece I create. While I’m especially drawn to traditional tattooing, I enjoy working across a range of styles, including color, black and grey, fine line, realism, and blackwork, and I’m always looking to grow as an artist.

Tattoo aftercare

*DISCLAIMER -  Tattoo healing can take anywhere from weeks to months, depending on various factors such as size, location, detail, skin type, age, aftercare, and artist technique. Typically, a tattoo is considered healed once the skin is no longer flaky, scabby, or “shiny” on the surface, but this too varies. If you’re unsure, please contact me.

General advice for fresh* Tattoos

  • Avoid contact with potential contaminants, such as: unwashed hands, animals/pets, nature, public surfaces, bodily fluids, dirty sheets/clothing, food/drink. If contact occurs, immediately wash the area.
  • Wear comfortable/minimal clothing; avoid chafing/friction.
  • Do not soak your tattoo, (such as swimming, baths, or hot tubs), even with second skin.
  • Avoid excessive sweating (such as working out or visiting the sauna) for at least the first 2 days.
  • Do not scratch, rub, slap, pick at, exfoliate, or otherwise aggravate the area; regardless of discomfort.
  • Avoid sun exposure, especially in the first month; sunscreen should be applied to healed skin only.
  • While redness, swelling, discomfort and weeping is normal in the first 1-3 days, if symptoms continue at the same rate or worsen by day 4, or if you notice pus, please contact your artist.

Products

DOs:

  • SOAP - gentle, natural, unscented.
  • LOTION - lightweight (glycerin/water based) Examples: CeraVe, Lubriderm, Aveeno.

DON'Ts:

  • SOAP - exfoliants, beads, dyes, scrubs, wash rags/sponges.
  • LOTION - greasy (oil/petroleum based), scents, dyes, harsh chemicals. Examples: Vaseline, A&D, Aquaphor, any “butters” .
  • OTHER - antibiotics (Neosporin), anti-itch (hydrocortisone), numbing, sunscreen, bug spray, body glitter, makeup, tanning, perfumes, etc

Plastic wrap method

Remove wrap upon arriving home, as soon as possible. Gently wash your tattoo and let it air-dry or pat gently with a paper towel. Do not rewrap/bandage unless absolutely necessary. Repeat the cleaning process 3x per day (morning, midday, night) for the first 3-5 days. Once the skin is dry and peeling, wash 2x per day and apply a small amount of lotion (for as often and long as needed) until fully healed.

"Second SKin" Method

Keep on for 4-6 days. If you choose to reapply at home, do so within the first 24-48 hours. Plasma buildup (“ink sack”) is normal - if leakage occurs, remove plastic and proceed with the recommended washing routine. Upon removal, wash skin and moisturize as recommended.
